LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas District of the U.S. Postal Service will be supporting breast cancer awareness in October through the sales of a Breast Cancer Awareness semi-postal stamp.

Officials announced Monday that post offices in Arkansas will be selling the 55-cent Breast Cancer Awareness stamp. Each booklet contributes $2.20 toward research aimed at finding a cure.

Arkansas District Manager David Camp says officials are hoping customers will support the effort. Camp says he has friends who are presently battling the disease.

The Breast Cancer Research semi-postal has raised more than $73.5 million since it was issued on July 29, 1998.

Seventy percent of the net amount raised is given to the National Institutes of Health and 30 percent is given to the Medical Research Program at the Department of Defense.
