RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Tech University says it's canceled its public theater performances for the spring semester after the Russellville fire marshal found multiple safety violations at the school's theater workshop.

The Techionery workshop has been closed since September, when the fire marshal's report found that emergency exits were obstructed and that combustible theater costumes were improperly stored. The report also identified wiring and electrical problems that could pose a fire risk.

The university says it's working to find a permanent performance space for the theater students. Although there won't be public performances, theater courses will still be offered this semester.
