RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas Tech University officials say spaces have been found for theatre students to continue their studies following the closure of the Techionery theatre workshop.

Vice president for academic affairs John Watson said in a news release that classroom space for all theatre classes has been identified for the fall and spring semesters. Witherspoon Auditorium will be used for the production of "Candide" and the auditorium also will be used for rehearsals.

All course work regarding the construction of sets will be performed at the Arkansas Tech Career Center in Russellville, and students will do that work under supervision with equipment at the career center.

University officials said earlier this week the Techionery was closed Sept. 15 after a Russellville Fire Department inspection found unsafe conditions at the school's theatre workshop.
