OZARK, Ark. (AP) — The wife of a Franklin County Sheriff's deputy has been killed in a fire at their home.

Sheriff Anthony Boen says deputy Dave Dodge was returning home from his shift early Friday when he noticed flames coming from his home. Dodge found his wife, 46-year-old Christy, and called firefighters.

She was transported to an Ozark hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Altus firefighters kept the blaze contained to one room, but Boen says the home sustained smoke and water damage.

Arkansas State Police are investigating the fire, but an official cause hasn' t been determined.

An account has been set up at Simmons Bank to help Dodge's family with costs.
