LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas finance officials say the state is on track to end the fiscal year with a surplus of at least $67 million, and the number could break $100 million.
The Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration said Monday that the state's revenues for the fiscal year-to-date total $4.2 billion. That's $142.9 million above last year and $13.3 million above the revised forecast the department released last month.
Arkansas' fiscal year ends June 30.
The state already has $54.2 million in surplus money that will be calculated into the surplus figure.
Department Director Richard Weiss said the surplus figure for the year could exceed $100 million. That money could go toward a number of needs facing the Legislature next year, including a looming shortfall in the state Medicaid program.
