HOPE, Ark. (AP) — A bakery in Hope that already has 250 full-time employees says it needs another 50 workers.

Southern Bakeries announced Tuesday that it needs the additional workers and will invest several million dollars in upgrades to its facility.

The Texarkana Gazette reports the business was purchased out of bankruptcy in 2005 and spent more than $5 million on new equipment.

The company produces bread sticks for Fazzoli's restaurants nationwide and makes Wolfeman's English muffins, Sunmaid raisin bread and other products.

The business operates six production lines — three for English muffins and three for other baked goods.

In the expansion, the company will buy a high-speed dough divider and a robotic machine to removed baked goods from pans.
