Former Greenwood teacher loses teaching license

A former Greenwood teacher, convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student, has lost her teaching license.
LITTLE ROCK (AP) - A former Greenwood teacher, convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old student, has lost her teaching license.

Without discussion, the state Board of Education today revoked the license of Deanna Bobo. Bobo's attorney said in a letter to the board that Bobo would not contest the revocation.

The 39-year-old Bobo was convicted in 2006 and remains free while her case is on appeal. She was convicted of two counts of first-degree sexual assault and sentenced to a total of 12 years in prison.

She taught at Raymond G. Wells Junior High School, and allegedly had sex with a male student, then 14, on two occasions in 2005.

Bobo has denied the charges.

Two other counts against her for alleged offenses in 2000 and 2001 were dropped last year. Prosecutors said the alleged victim was in the military and didn't want to return from Iraq to testify.
