MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) — Former governor Mike Huckabee says he's supporting Beth Anne Rankin's bid for the Republican nomination for a congressional seat representing south Arkansas.

Rankin announced the endorsement Wednesday, adding that Huckabee will also be hosting a fundraiser for her in Hot Springs on Feb. 15.

Rankin was defeated in the 2010 race by incumbent Democratic Rep. Mike Ross, who says he won't be running for re-election this year.

Rankin spent seven years as Huckabee's policy adviser and is now vice president of Rankin Land and Timber. She faces Dardanelle management consultant and Army veteran Tom Cotton and Waldron businessman and Marine veteran Marcus Richmond in the May primary.
