Lawmakers look at lottery scholarship amounts

A state senator on Tuesday proposed addressing a $23 million projected shortfall in money available for lottery-funded scholarships by adjusting awards for students so they get less as underclassmen but more as they advance.

Community colleges are always cheaper to attend. It's not normally any problem to go first two years to a community college, and the last two at a 4-yr college. Are the community colleges bad? If so, they need to partner with the 4-yr institutions to get up-to-speed. There shouldn't be any stigma associated with going to a junior/community college for two years.

More money, not less money is needed in the scholarships, the reason so many student have to quit is because the scholarships are not enough and the out of pocket expensive are still out of some of their and their families reach. It is so sad, the people voted for the lottery for the student but it seems it is doing every thing else but.
