MENA, Ark. (AP) — Queen Wilhelmina State Park Lodge — known as the Castle in the Clouds — will be closed for 18 months as crews work on a $6.2 million renovation.

State Parks Director Greg Butts tells the Texarkana Gazette that the lodge will close Feb. 16. It's expected to reopen in the summer of 2013.

Officials say improvements to the 38-room lodge will include renovations to the guest rooms, lobby, gift shop and meeting room. Plans also call for a 10,000-square-foot expansion to add two more guest rooms and increase the size of the existing guest rooms.

The lodge sits atop Rich Mountain, which is more than 2,600 feet above sea level. Officials say the renovation calls for new windows in the lodge that will offer better views of the mountain.
