LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Rainfall put a damper on attendance at the Arkansas State Fair.
Officials say attendance on Tuesday was 14,021, putting this year's event 8,647 patrons behind the number of people who had attended through five days in 2010.
General Manager Ralph Shoptaw said Wednesday afternoon and evening crowds helped boost the numbers, but the rain kept many fairgoers away earlier in the day.
Officials say 224,506 people have come to the fair in the past five days. At the halfway point last year, 233,153 had filed through the gates.
Officials said Monday's attendance was 22,999, slightly more than the 21,895 who attended on the first Monday of event in 2010.
Shoptaw says the weather is forecast to be sunny with temperatures in the 60s and 70s the rest of the week.
