FORREST CITY, Ark. (AP) — The Sanyo Manufacturing Corp. factory in Forrest City is moving more of its operations to other cities.

Plant vice president Joe Keeton would not say Thursday how many jobs will be lost among the 75 workers who remain at the plant.

The factory had more than 650 employees just five years ago when the plant was still making cathode ray televisions. Flat screen TVs have made the older style televisions obsolete.

The Times-Herald of Forrest City reports the plant will still operate a call center and support functions. Parts of the operation involved in distribution, logistics and engineering are moving to San Diego or Tijuana, Mexico.

The layoffs are to take effect by March 31.

Here is another example of how NAFTA,Washington and Corporate America who OWNS Washington are helping to making Mexico a leading industrial employer while turning the United States the next third world country. Until the American people wise up and see that that the elected members of BOTH parties are getting rich off the stocks & contributions of these companies and DEMAND that NAFTA be repealed and our jobs are brought back where they belong. And, tax anything made from Mexico or China at 75%. Then, maybe we'll see our country be strong again. Steve Kennedy>>>Collierville, TN
