CONWAY, AR – A high speed chase, that at times reached 100mph, was ended by the Arkansas State Police on I-40 in Pulaski County Tuesday.

The chase started in Conway Tuesday morning on a call of domestic violence. According to police, they were responding to the Rock Creek Apartment complex after a man said his ex-girlfriend had forced herself into the apartment and left after a physical altercation. Police were there when the woman, Porsha Thompson, returned to the apartment complex.

Thompson left in a SUV. Police followed her through town, reaching speeds of 80mph. At one point, according to police, Thompson’s SUV rear-ended another car, but she kept going.

The chase hit I-40 west toward Little Rock, at one point officers clocked the speed at 100 miles an hour. Arkansas State Police got involved, a trooper deployed spike strips which punctured the SUV’s tires. Police finally got the vehicle stopped at mile marker 145 on I-40 east in Pulaski County where Thompson was taken into custody.

Thompson faces felony charges of fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident, violation of a protection order, domestic battery, attempted robbery and some misdemeanor charges

"The chase hit I-40 west toward Little Rock"....the reporter means I-40 West being the portion of the highway that is West of Little Rock, not heading west towards LR. later in the story "vehicle stopped at mile marker 145 on I-40 East in Pulaski County" meaning towards Memphis. It could have been written a little cleaner by leaving out the West & East references all together.

"The chase hit I-40 west toward Little Rock." When did Little Rock move west of Conway? Typical Fox16 reporting - no proof reading for content.
