I have 3 boys that play football.I love it as much as they do.Injuries happen to kids that don't play contact sports. All we can do is pray for this young man,and stop blaming this on football. There are thousands of players from age 4 to 40 on the football field every year.Accidents happen.Prayers for this young man and his family

Yes, you are correct russell. Something I never heard of back when I was a teenager, over 40 years ago. I read about way too much now days. I think "social" media has a lot to do with it; cyber bullying, etc. Modern technology; will probably lead us back into the dark ages someday. Anyway, far too many other things to worry about our kids than sports. I know lot's of kids get hurt, some die; from playing sports, but people die everyday from just about everything. Slipping in the tub, falling down stairs, heart attacks, car accidents; we all take a chance everyday when we get out of bed; still, prayers and thoughts for this young man.

Prayers and thoughts for this young man and his family. As to the other comments; the sports you wish to get rid of, not going to happen. Best part of my early teen years was playing baseball almost everyday during the summer with the other neighborhood kids. I went to 7th grade in Star City. During the school year ( 64-65 ), 4 young men from the school died in a car wreck when they ran into a logging truck that had broke down. We lose more kids to vehicle accidents than any other type of accident, or sport injury I would imagine. Want to protect our kids? Teach them to drive responsibly, or up the age for a driver's license. This is the good old US of A; baseball and football are not going away anytime soon.

Anyone can be hurt doing just about anything BUT doctors are seeing “pro type” damage & injuries to children as young as 10. When they grow up they will have more issues than kids that did not play contact sports. There are many sports with lower injury rates – some are team sports many are individual sports type activities. Hiking, kayaking, swimming… you get the idea. Schools spend so much $$$ on football, basketball & baseball. Why not take that money & encourage kids to do something else. If all football programs put that money to scholarships instead it might do more good for more kids & help reduce the physical issues that go with team contact sports. Just a thought - will pray for this young man’s full recovery
