CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — The University of Arkansas faculty senate will consider a proposal to ask the Board of Trustees to name interim President Tom Courtway as president for up to three years.

The faculty senate is to meet Tuesday.

Courtway is serving as interim president for the second time. He was first chosen following the resignation of Lu Hardin and was again named interim president after the recent resignation of Allen Meadors.

Courtway has said he's not interested in being a permanent president — but on Monday he declined comment. He told the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (http://bit.ly/pPSsCy ) that he'll discuss the issue "at the appropriate time."

Faculty Senator Brian Bolter said supporters of the plan believe the support of faculty, staff and students may be a way to entice Courtway to take the post.
