CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — University of Central Arkansas students will pay higher tuition and fees.

The school's board of trustees voted Friday to approve a $161.6 million operating budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year that includes a 2.08 percent, or $5.32 per credit hour, increase in tuition and fees. School President Tom Courtway says even with the hike, the school is fifth in overall cost among the other state institutions based on the new tuition and fees.

Tuition will go up $3.70 per hour for undergraduate and $4.55 per hour for graduate students.

Officials say they expect the increase to generate nearly $1 million in additional revenue, which will be used for increases in fixed costs.

The board also increased Courtway's salary from $162,777 to $210,000 annually.
