Work starting on I-40 widening project near Conway

CONWAY, Ark. (AP) — Construction is under way on a project to widen Interstate 40 between Conway and North Little Rock.

Transportation officials are gathering in Conway on Tuesday to discuss the project and emphasize that motorists need to use caution in the construction zone to protect the lives of the workers.

The highway is being widened to six lanes between the U.S. Highway 64 interchange in Conway and the Interstate 430 interchange near North Little Rock.

The project covers about 25 miles.
