April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. According to a survey by the Centers for Disease Control, one in five women in Arkansas has been raped at sometime in her life, and as many as 60% of all sexual assaults go unreported.

“As the state's chief law enforcement officer the fight against sexual assault is a stop priority for me,” Arkansas Attorney General Dustin McDaniel said.

“The best way to empower victims of sexual assault is to arm them with the knowledge they are not alone, and that caring people [are] ready and eager to help, and they need only to reach out and ask.”

Another staggering statistic: 80% of sexual assault victims know their attacker.

The Arkansas Coalition against Sexual Assault helps women and men who have been sexually assaulted.
