SPRINGDALE, Ark. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say 16 people in northwest Arkansas have been indicted on charges of trafficking methamphetamine.

Authorities say the indictments are the result of a two-year investigation called Operation La Pantera Negra - or The Black Panther in Spanish. The charges include conspiracy to distribute meth, multiple counts of distribution of meth and money laundering.

Court documents say authorities seized 20 pounds of methamphetamine from a home in Fayetteville that led law enforcement to a house in Dallas where agents seized 83 pounds of meth, six vehicles, one weapon and approximately $48,000 cash.

Prosecutors say a total of 31 defendants have been charged as part of the operation and more than 118 pounds of meth, $82,000 cash, 16 vehicles and 12 firearms have been seized.
