EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) — A 17-year-old El Dorado mother has been arrested on suspicion of endangering the welfare of a minor after her 3-year-old son was found outside, naked and unsupervised, as severe weather was heading into the area.

The El Dorado News-Times reports that a man saw the boy playing alone in the dirt on Tuesday night. Authorities say the man's girlfriend provided clothes for the child and they called police.

Police say they found the mother at her apartment and that she was "very nonchalant" about the child. Police say the 17-year-old sent her mother to pick up the boy from the police station.

The 17-year-old and her son were released into the custody of the teen's mother. The teenager's name wasn't released because of her age.

This child should be removed from this home and placed with someone who cares enough to love and nurture that sweet boy. It is obvious this family is unfit. This girl was pregnant at 13-14?! Looks like a cycle of bad parenting and lack of involvement. End the cycle and give that baby a chance!

She needs to be permanently sterilized. and for those of you that will say that is horrible and she was too young to know how to care for a baby. bite me! I was babysitting infants by time i was 12 and knew exactly how to care for them and that type of thing would have never occurred with me. She just didnt give a crap.

OMG is all I CAN SAY TO THIS> This is the problem with children having children. I myself was born by a child and raised by my grandmother. This is just awful!

She needs a lesson in self control along with birth control.

@shelleymo - Very well said. Since when were 17 year-olds too young to have common sense? When I was 17 (junior/senior in high school), almost all my friends took care of younger siblings without any of them playing outside naked with a storm approaching. Simply put, the woman is an unfit mother. Age has nothing to do with it. The child needs to be removed from the home.

I got pregnant at 16, and I never allowed my children to play naked in the yard with storms coming. My children were always well fed and well dress. I got married and my husband and I supported ourselves and our kids without state assistance. Now our children are grown, both have gone on to continue their education and be productive members of society. If I can do it so can anyone else. It all comes down to values. My father taught me never to rely on anyone else to take care of me or my children, he taught me work ethic and responsibility. It seems to me that this 17year old mother hasn't learned responsibility.

How sad, this girl must to have been 13-14 years old when she got preganant. I bet her mother is in her early 30s. What is this world coming to and why did the police give the child back?
