GOULD, AR - Circuit Judge Robert Wyatt, Jr. ruled on Wednesday that Harry Hall and Rosieanna Smith-Lee are ineligible to hold their positions as members of the Gould City Council.

In July, 2011, the Gould Citizens Advisory Council filed a lawsuit against Hall and Smith-Lee claiming both council members were holding their positions illegally, according to state law. Harry Hall is a convicted felon and Rosieanna Smith-Lee represents a ward in which she doesn't live. According to Arkansas State Law, anyone with a felony is ineligible for election and you must live within the ward in which you are voted to represent.

When the GCAC initially filed the lawsuit, Hall told Fox16, "I paid the price. God forgave me, the judge forgave me, these people will not forgive me. That's the problem. Its personal."

This was Hall's third term, but the first time a complaint about his criminal background arose.

"I don't steal. I haven't killed anyone," said Hall in July, 2011. "I made a minor mistake back in the past but I've paid for it. I'm a good person."

Hall and Smith ineligible to sit on the council effective immediately.

Crooks in politics; that's news? tired; Democrats of course! Anyone notice that their party symbol is a jackass? protector20; Holder might be a bit busy; but maybe Al or Jesse would help him out. itsjustme; how correct you are! They may have good intentions when they start out, and they may be honest folk also; but after a few greased palms, and a few I'll scratch yours if you'll scratch mine, then they all become crooks. Lizabeth; does Janie Ward come to mind? From the State Police all the way up to the Governor's office; that whole thing stunk to high Heaven of corruption and cover up. And the DA's assigned to the case were a joke. They can get away with it here; but then someday they all will have to face their Maker; then, Janie will have her justice!

Maybe Mr. Hall would like to retain Eric Holder to represent him in court.

If they are not a crook before they get elected, they will become one soon after getting elected.

The past is the past but it always follows a person around if no where but in their own mind. It has happened in other counties of Ar. I know 1 in particular from the late 90's. I am sorry to tell you that my opinion is that anyone wanting to run for any office of the government should have a background check done on them before they can run for the office. No exceptions for anyone anywhere or etc. If they have any misdemeanors or felony charges or convictions, they should not be able to run in any state or any country. This is why so many bad things slip by and bad things happen in this world. Just think back in the past yrs and how many officials did so many things and got by with it until they were exposed? Too many to count! When the laws get stiffer and they are inforced the people in this world will be better off. There will be less crimes in the world and a more peaceful one to live in. The excuses should not be accepted for the petty things like not enough money to build prisions or to enlarge jails or prisons or not enough manpower or money or any excuse should be accepted. When the people don't vote certain taxes the governor should pass the bills to see to it that we the people have what the society needs to make a better society.
