Arkansas authorities are investigating the deaths of two children who apparently were left in hot vehicles.
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas authorities are investigating the deaths of two children who apparently were left in hot vehicles.

Springdale police Lt. Kevin Lewis told the Northwest Arkansas Times a 2-year-old boy died after his great-grandparents left him inside a car in a Walmart parking lot. Lewis says the child didn't have a pulse when paramedics arrived.

The child was pronounced dead at Northwest Medical Center.

Lewis says the great-grandparents told authorities they thought they left the child for about 45 minutes, but surveillance footage shows the time was about two hours.

KAIT-TV reports Newport police are investigating the death of a child who was left in a car. A police dispatcher didn't have any additional information.

Temperatures reached the low 100s in the Springdale area and 96 degrees in Newport.
