CONWAY, AR - Police say two fights broke out at the same University of Central Arkansas fraternity event at the Conway Expo Center Thursday night. Both were caught on camera.
In the first fight, you can see Ashley Thomas, in a red dress, literally being stomped-on by multiple women.
"I could have died, being stomped on my face like that," said a bruised Thomas. "One of the girls that kicked me, she actually had on high heels so I thank God that I made it through it."
Amazingly, considering the fight footage, Thomas says just her head and nose hurt now, not even 24 hours after the melee. She says she doesn't know why these women attacked her.
"It was like, it really caught me off-guard," she recalled. "Like it was not called for at all."
Thomas' mom, Crystal Barker, actually found out about the fight when her cousin called and woke her up in the middle of the night. He'd seen the video posted on Twitter.
"It really scared me because the way he was talking, my heart felt that he was gonna tell me she had died," said Barker. "I just thank God that she didn't."
Someone posted the other fight footage on Youtube. It's from the same event, and UCA's Dean of Students says the brawl is between members of the Alpha Phi Alpha and Omega Psi Phi fraternities.
"I learned about it earlier this morning and we're just gathering information," said Dean Gary Roberts, "and we're going to take decisive action once we get the report."
UCA says says they've suspended both fraternities' social activities for the time being.
Thomas may suspend her own social activities for the time being too. She wants to find out why the women attacked her, and both her and her mom are hopeful as well.
"That nobody else has to go through that," Thomas said, "and that people learn from this situation."
"I hope that the young people will realize that this could have been deadly," said an emotional Barker. "It could have been fatal."
Conway police ask anyone with information about either fight to please give them a call. This is an ongoing investigation.
