24 Arrested After Investigation into Illegal Gambling Ring

The 24 individuals were identified as the owners and operators of the illegal gaming establishments and have been charged with operating a gambling house.
JEFFERSON COUNTY, AR -- Multiple law enforcement agencies across the state announced today the investigation, disruption and dismantlement of 13 illegal gaming establishments operating in Pine Bluff and one in Jefferson County, according to reports.

Twenty-four people were arrested and taken into custody in the operation dubbed "Lucky 7's."  The 24 individuals were identified as the owners and operators of the illegal gaming establishments and have been charged with operating a gambling house. 

Officials believe the operators have made millions during or prior to the three-month investigation. 

The defendants appeared in court for a probable cause hearing.  The charge of operating a gambling house is a Class D Felony, and if convicted, the defendants could face up to six years in prison.

Police also seized more than 600 gaming machines, and nearly $500,000 in cash was seized after 15 search warrants were executed in multiple Arkansas jurisdictions.  The search warrants were executed by 167 state, local and federal law enforcement officers from all over the state.
