2yo's death ruled a homicide; man arrested

GLENWOOD, AR - Police have arrested a man and charged him with murder for the death of a toddler in September of last year.

Police and medics responded to a call about a child not breathing on September 12, 2011. The child, 2-year-old Karsen Dean Strickland was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to the Glenwood Herald, the Arkansas Department of Human Services said the death was from possible abuse and the Arkansas State Crime Lab ruled the death a homicide.

Today Aaron Shields, who police say lived in the same house as Karsen, was arrested and charged with 2nd degree murder. He is currently in the Pike County Jail and his bond has been set at $1 million.
