TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — Court appearances have begun for the 66 defendants named in a 190-count federal indictment that alleges the suspects were involved in the crack cocaine trade in southwestern Arkansas.
Forty-one of the people charged made court appearances on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Texarkana. The defendants are set for trial Dec. 19.
The Texarkana Gazette reports that court hearings will continue on Monday and Tuesday for defendants to request bond so they can be released pending trial.
The people indicted by a grand jury are accused of conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine.
