American Idol is about to help folks who are less fortunate. In a little more than two weeks from now, a two night spectacular Idol special entitled "Idol Gives Back," hits the airwaves. The special will use an a-list cast in an attempt to raise money and awareness for poor children around the world.
The upcoming, two night Idol Gives Back charity blowout should be a TV event to remember, capitalizing on American Idol's huge audience and generous sponsors. With a dynamite lineup of a-list celebrities and musicians, and the backing of top corporations, the shows will raise awareness and cash for children living in poverty here in the U.S. and around the world.
"We are 2 or 3 weeks away. The money is rolling in, the stars are turning up. We're excited its going to be a big night. Its going to be a big shin dig," says Simon Cowell.
For New Orleans native Randy Jackson, the project takes him back to a city still in need. "Going home this is where I'm from you know going down to check things out, and uhh its going to be a tough trip, but a really good trip. Uh will be some interesting times on Idol I mean its a great, great show that everyone's planning. We’ve been working on it for a while and I think you've gotta wait and see some great great accomplishments of people giving back," says Jackson.
Idol Gives Back is coming your way Tuesday and Wednesday, April 24th and 25th only on FOX.
