LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas highway workers will reopen ramps at the state's busiest highway intersection this weekend after closing them amid a major construction project.

Two loops connecting northbound Interstate 430 with traffic on Interstate 630 were shut down while crews hung steel beams that will carry "flyover" ramps in a redesigned intersection. Parts of I-430 will be reduced to one-lane as workers restripe the highway and restore a normal traffic pattern at the "Big Rock" interchange in west Little Rock.

The Highway and Transportation Department said 20 days of lane changes and ramp closures was necessary to complete a phase of work before schools reopen this month.

The interchange sees an average of 200,000 vehicles daily, making it the state's busiest crossing. Many motorists have opted for different routes during construction, though.
