LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas lottery sales are expected to reach $1 billion this week.

Lottery Interim Director Julie Baldridge said Monday evening that sales will likely reach the $1 billion mark within the next 24 hours. The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery has been selling tickets for more than two years.

During that time, Baldridge says the lottery has produced more than $200 million for the education fund that finances the Arkansas Challenge Scholarships.

The lottery has paid out more than $600 million in prizes to players, along with more than $56 million in commissions to retailers around the state.
