LOWELL, Ark. (AP) - Authorities say the police chief of Lowell has been critically injured in a motorcycle accident in northwestern Florida.

Lowell Mayor Eldon Long said Saturday Chief Joe Landers was hurt during a hit-and-run wreck Friday night in Panama City, Fla., where he is vacationing.

Officials say Landers' motorcycle collided with a vehicle that didn't stop at an intersection. He was taken by ambulance to Bay City Memorial Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.

The person driving the vehicle was stopped and taken into custody.
