LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Driving through Boyle Park Saturday morning, it may have sounded serene, but it was dangerous. The creek quickly filled up and spilled off onto the street.
"Normally we have to pull our vehicles up to higher ground due to the flooding we get," Segrid Shumate of Horticare Nursery said.
Shumate gets a bit concerned when we get a couple of inches of rain. If it's too much, she can't even open. Cleaning up from the floods could be a chore.
"It will wash up debris and run it into the gate. We have to clear all that out, tree limbs, and any garbage that's been floating from the creek line," Shumate said.
Across the city, public works crews have yet to get all of the limbs that fell when snow and ice overwhelmed the region during the week of Christmas.
Eric McGehee is constantly reminded of that long, cold week.
"I saw power lines with limbs still down by my house," McGehee said.
He got nervous Saturday afternoon when his power flickered. The McGehee family lost electricity for five days during the Christmas storm.
"The amount of money that you spend, all extra expenses you spend buying food and hotel, it was costly," McGehee said.
