LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- After an eleven month stint, state education leaders removed Dr. Bettye Wright as superintendent.

"I was just taken aback that they would take what I would consider drastic move," Wright said.

Wright appeared before state board members to address discrepancies found on transcripts before she took over the district.  However, the focus changed from transcripts to low student achievement and the failure to secure a grant to improve Dollarway High.  Leaders say the district lost out because it failed to follow department recommendations.

Now Education Commissioner Tom Kimbrell will appoint a new leader.

"I had a plan and a plan they will probably follow, which if it's good for the kids, and if that's what they follow then that works for me," Wright said.

Bobbie Henderson has sons in the district.  She supports the state's decision to dissolve wright and the board because of the decline she's seen for years.

"It's just totally out of control. Kids doing what they want to do. It's just a mess," said Henderson.

Henderson said she won't take her children out of the district because they're active in various programs.  She hopes keeping them in will be worth it.

"Kids need a good education so they can move higher and get better scholarships," Henderson said.

In my opinion Dollarway has had a problem for a long time. I dont know if the superintemdent had anything to do with it. But I've personnally and my children disrespectful teachers, students, and subs. You have teachers bullying students and students bullying students. I believe if you start putting cameras in classrooms ,checking footage on cameras, you can hold teachers and students accountable for students acheivements. These teachers are clearly in it for the money because these teachers dont always have our childrens best interests at heart. All teachers are not going that extra mile anymore. Teachers used to make sure their children learned and not pass them on to the next grade level learning below average for their age.

It's time to reorganize school districts by county. Imagine the money we would save on administration going down to 75 districts.
