Arkansas House Passes Resolution in Support of DOMA

The Arkansas House approved a resolution in support of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) on Wednesday afternoon.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- The Arkansas House approved a resolution in support of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) on Wednesday afternoon.

The resolution is non-binding, but is timely with the U.S. Supreme Court hearing oral arguments on the legality of the act in Washington.

Several House members walked out of the discussion as a sign of protest against the resolution.

"I came today to speak on behalf of the majority of Arkansans that still support traditional marriage between one man and one woman," says Justin Harris.

"Let's not stand on the wrong side of history today," Deborah Ferguson said. "How do you want your grandchildren to think how you voted today?"

The resolution in support of marriage between one man and one woman passed the House on a voice vote.
