BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — A 12-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to four counts of misdemeanor harassment for offensive statements he made on Twitter about Bentonville High School students.

The Benton County Daily Record reports the boy was placed on juvenile probation for one year and was ordered to perform community service and undergo counseling.

The boy told Circuit Judge Mark Fryauf on Monday that he wrote "rude comments" on a Twitter account called Freezebook. He said he was the only person who posted tweets from that account.

One posting mentioned a student's sexual experience, while another tweet accused a person of having a sexually transmitted disease.

The judge also ordered that the boy not have access to the Internet, but he granted an exception for school-related purposes.

I guess kids can't be kids anymore. People are so frivolous with lawsuites and haveing their feelings on their sleeve.... This is childs play its been going on for centrys and now we feel like we have to bring the law/lawyers and courts into the situation. If you take everything this serious as a child than it's no wonder they see the small things worth killing someone when they get older. Come on people!!! Just a good old fashion hide tanning would clear this kids problem right up. As far as the one that got talked about..... If were'nt for the media... People would have already forgotten about it.

We may not like what this child posted,...but WE HAVE TO LOVE THE WAY OUR RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS BEING INFRINGED UPON!!! This may be one child, but the impingement upon his CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS IS AN ATTACK UPON AND INSULT TO OUR RIGHTS! If he posts false accusations, then he and his parents can be sued. That is a CIVIL matter that has been made into a CRIMINAL matter. If his statements are the TRUTH, then IT IS WHAT IT IS!

Free speech is one thing; intentionally disparaging the reputation of someone in public is quite another.

I thought the constitution protected us from being criminalized over free speech. Seems that our constitution doesn't apply anywhere anymore though...ya the kid said some slanderous and "mean" things so it should have been a civil matter, in a suit brought about by the plaintiff's and not a criminal case. UNCONSTITUTIONAL.PERIOD

There is a fine line between freedom of speech and harrassment. This situation here could have even went towards the side of defamation of character. A word to the wise, do post on facebook, twitter, etc. It may come back to bite you in the keister.

What has happened to constituntional right of free speech. I would appeal this so called Judge's ruling and then sue him for violations of your constitutional rights.
