LITTLE ROCK, AR – Governor Mike Beebe this morning verbally issued an emergency proclamation due to the power outages caused by the winter storm. More than 200,000 homes and businesses are with electricity.

Matt DeCample, with the Governor’s Office says the proclamation should help power companies to get electrical service restored as quickly as possible. DeCample says the proclamation cuts some of the red tape making it easier for power companies to bring in out-of-state workers to help with the massive power outages.

Even with hundreds possibly thousands of extra workers coming in, it could still be several days before all customers have their power restored.
