LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The Arkansas lottery has hired a new chief financial officer.

Lottery commissioners met Friday and agreed to offer the position to Jerold K. Fetzer, and he accepted.

Fetzer is a certified public accountant with Miller & Co. PLC and is a former Alltel Corp. executive.

Lottery Interim Director Julie Baldridge says Fetzer is to start in late November.

He replaces Philip Miley, who announced his resignation in August, citing a hostile work environment. Since then, lottery director Ernie Passailaigue resigned, as did top deputy David Barden.

Barden and lottery executive Ernestine Middleton followed Passailaigue to Arkansas from South Carolina in 2009 to launch the Arkansas lottery. Middleton was fired earlier this month.
