HOPE, Ark. (AP) — Prosecutors have charged a Texarkana man with first-degree murder in the shooting death of his stepfather.

Don Airsman Jr. is accused in the death of 60-year-old Williams Jones Jr. The Texarkana Gazette reports that Airsman pleaded not guilty and has a June 20 court appearance.

Authorities in Bowie County, Texas, responded to a report of a burning car on April 27. Authorities ran the license plate, which led police to Jones' home in Saratoga, Ark. There, authorities found physical evidence of an altercation, which led police back to the car.

Jones' body was found in the back of the vehicle.

Bowie County Sheriff James Prince says Jones died of multiple gunshot wounds.
