BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — A Benton County Circuit Court judge has scheduled a Jan. 31 sentencing hearing for a Bentonville man who pleaded guilty to felony charges stemming from a fatal accident in August 2010.

Kyle Rogers entered the plea Tuesday to negligent homicide, battery in the first degree and driving while intoxicated.

The Benton County Daily Record reports that Rogers was driving a pickup truck with a boat trailer along Arkansas Highway 127 when the trailer's right wheel dropped off the roadway. Prosecutor A.J. Anglin says Rogers lost control of the truck and struck a motorcycle coming in the opposite direction.

Sixty-three-year-old Jack Hefner was killed and his wife, Helen, was injured.

Anglin says Rogers failed a field sobriety test.

Rogers' attorney, Terry Harper, didn't immediately return a call seeking comment Wednesday.

he is probably white so the courts will find a way to minimize the sentence, he will probably get probation and a suspended license. i read all the negative remarks surrounding blacks but no one comments on the white trash.
