Arkansas soldier injured in Afghanistan dies

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Defense says a Little Rock man has died of injuries he suffered in combat in Afghanistan.

Defense officials said Monday Sgt. 1st Class Benjamin B. Wise died Sunday at a hospital in Germany. The 34-year-old Wise was hurt Jan. 9 when his unit was attacked with small-arms fire in Balkh province.

Wise was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group, Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington.

A listing for Wise in Arkansas couldn't be found Monday night.
