LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas' unemployment rate in October fell to 8.2 percent, down one-tenth of a percentage point from September, the first time the rate has dropped since March.
The Department of Workforce Services said Tuesday that the state had 7,500 more people with jobs and 600 fewer people who are unemployed in the month.
The unemployment rate dropped for the first time since March.
The agency says the bump of 7,500 more people who became employed was the largest monthly jobs increase of the year.
The national jobless rate also dropped one-tenth of a percentage point for the month, falling to 9.0 percent.
A year ago, the Arkansas unemployment rate was 7.9 percent, and the national rate was 9.7 percent.
