JACKSONVILLE, AR - The Lonoke County Sheriff's Office arrested a man they believe smashed a gun case at Walmart and stole two rifles.

The incident happened around 5am January 19. Jacksonville Police say the rifles taken were a Marlin XT-17HMR and a Bushmaster M4A3 Patrol Carbine Rifle.

Deputies arrested Justin Mavity at the Pony Express in Cabot off of Highway 5 Monday. They say he confessed to the crime and has been charged with two counts of Theft of Property and one count of Criminal Mischief.

The Bushmaster has been recovered but the Marlin rifle has not.

I JUST HAVE ONE THING TO SAY. I HAVE KNOWN HIM SINCE HE WAS 13 YEARS OLD. AND IT'S A SIMPLE CASE OF HIS ADDICTION GOT THE BEST OF HIM. HE WAS IN A BAD PLACE BUT, I'M HOPING FOR A FULL TURN AROUND FOR HIM. I WILL BE HERE FOR HIM NO MATTER WHAT. BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT FRIENDS DO.

Why the remarks about the guys ears? Where do drugs come in on this story? Like someone with smaller ears and NOT on drugs wouldn't do this?

That's all he was charged with? Talking guns here, smashing the cases and going out the door. He must know someone on the right list.

Well if he is on drugs the good news is he will have several years to get off them while in prison. The bad news is no number of years will rid him of stupid.

so you actually advocate that we all do drugs (if that's even the case here)? Easy answer: NO. Drugs are a CHOICE. Same as having a cup of coffee in the morning - yes or no. Sometimes it's just "I want" something that I can't seem to save enough money for, or "I want it NOW." Sometimes, it just is what it is - a stupid decision.

Everyone is so quick to judge those accused of crimes, while knowing nothing of the circumstances surrounding the event nor the person. Yeah, most likely it was because of drugs, but being an addict make him sick, not himself. When you are an addict, you do some pretty off the wall things, things you normally would not do. People are always quick to say, "that guys an idiot, man, he's stupid, what a loser." Walk a mile, hell even a few feet would do it, in their shoes, know their history/rearing, know THEM and live as they have to. I guarantee you will never judge anyone again. Drugs make stupid decisions seem rational, that does not make a person on the wrong path of life a "bad" person, it makes them a lost person. Maybe if people were more willing to help guide, more would find their way back on the right track. Addiction is a terrible thing for a person to have to live through, if they even get to live. Walk a mile in THEIR shoes. ;)
