ATKINS, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a 26-year-old Atkins woman was killed after her vehicle was struck by a train.

Pope County Sheriff Aaron Duvall tells the Russellville Courier that the crash happened at about 2 p.m. Monday. Duvall identified the victim as Nicki Settlemire.

The sheriff says Settlemire was killed after a Union Pacific train struck a Ford Explorer at an intersection on the east side of Atkins.

Duvall says the Atkins Police Department is investigating the accident, while Union Pacific Railroad is conducting a separate investigation.
