CLINTON, AR – The man investigators believe is responsible for the death of a well-known attorney is behind bars. Sheriff’s deputies found him hiding out in a tent behind his father’s home.

Prosecutor Cody Hiland says Rosendo Ross Meek was taken into custody Saturday afternoon and will be charged with manslaughter and criminal trespassing. Investigators say the 27 year old is responsible for the death of Clinton, Arkansas, attorney Brett Blakney.

Blakney also owned the Black Dog Bar and Grill in Clinton. Investigators say Meek had been banned from the business and there was a scuffle around 10pm Thursday night when he was ordered to leave. Authorities say the suspect punched Blakney in the face causing him fall hitting his head on some concrete. The prominent Van Buren County lawyer died just hours later in a local hospital.

Prosecutor Cody Hiland praised Crawford County deputies for their diligence in apprehending the suspect. Hiland says Meek had a 9mm pistol when arrested, was hiding out and attempting to flee. The prosecutor says that since Meek is a convicted felon he will likely face additional charges in Crawford County.

Then you want to talk Miranda and don't even know why it was put in effect. The rights brought forth in Miranda were always in the bill of rights. They were wrote many years ago. The problem was most Americans didn't know them and the police were abusing their rights because they didn't. Then when the thugs went to court a good lawyer would point out their rights had been violated. Resulting in an criminal going free. Miranda is a good law. It protects the innocent and leaves the guilty no excuse. The biggest problem with the justice system is the ignorant people that don't take the time to learn about it. Then there are the people that cry for blood that don't know anything but what hits the news. Never thinking that there is three sides to a story. Ones side then the others side and somewhere in the middle the truth.

I know have an idea of who the stupidest person alive is. It really shows. Criminals walk because of weak minded law enforcement and lawyers posing as prosecutors. OH with all the smarts you have why didn't you learn how to spell. I as a old retired criminal can do that.

@mom4boys, just take a look at the justice system why don't you. A good long hard look. Too many criminals are out there walking the streets because the judges don't want to abide by the law. Take the criminal in this case, he killed someone!! And will probably get off with probation or may a month in jail. Is that fair? No it isn't. Victims have no rights at all. None and haven't had since the Miranda Law. I know. I am the daughter of a reviered Law Enforcement officer and an attorney, so I know first hand of where I speak. I feel for you having lived in the narrow minded, fetid and festering place that you do, which is so obvious that you would bring the bible into it. Last I heard, that area of the country wasn't the Bible Belt anymore. It is the Griddle of the Goddess! And please have your facts straight before you comment on my words. Earthbased religion is OLDER the your christianity!!!! It is I that am sorry for you for never experienceing life beyond your county. How small your life must be.

Some just got to get a life. Clinton is a wonderful place. Besides why would there be inbreeding with all the enchanted daughters brought there. Greers Ferry lake is covered in them. Sad about the death. Sounds like one punch homicide to me. People should think before striking.

Sorry for u that u r so full of ignorance. I lived in this county all my life and knew both parties involved it is an unfortunate situation that could have been avoided. I do believe the Bible says he without sin cast the first stone maybe u should think of that before u start talking about lynching people. These people do have families that are going through enough right now.
