Babysitters arrested on child abuse charges

A Mountain Home couple has been arrested on child abuse charges after the child they were babysitting was allegedly hit with a belt and hot sauce poured in its mouth.

MOUNTAIN HOME, AR – A Mountain Home couple has been arrested on child abuse charges after the child they were babysitting was allegedly hit with a belt and hot sauce poured in its mouth.

33-year-old Lynn White and 30-year-old Jessica White were arrested Wednesday afternoon. According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, the Whites were babysitting a 3-year-old while his father was out of town. On December 8th, the boy was taken to the hospital. While there, workers found evidence that the child had been abused.

The sheriff’s office says that Lynn admitted to hitting the child with a belt. Investigators also say that Jessica was present when the child was being hit with the belt. They also believe that one or both of the Whites poured hot sauce into the child’s mouth to punish him.

Lynn White is charged with 2nd degree battery and his bond was set at $15,000. Jessica White is charged with permitting child abuse, her bond was set at $5,000.
