LITTLE ROCK, AR - The mega sports store has announced that it will be a part of the 169-acre Gateway Town Center development near the intersection of Interstate 30 and Interstate 430, which will also include an outlet mall.

“We have reached a firm agreement and will start infrastructure work later this summer with the new 120,000 square foot store, expected to open in time for Christmas next year,” developer Tommy Hodges said. “I am just as pleased and excited as I can be because I feel there is no other retailer in America like Bass Pro Shops.”

Bass Pro Shops says that the store will attract tourists and travelers with its convenient location and will initially generate at least 250 jobs.

“We have been hoping for a store in Little Rock for a long time and, thanks to Tommy Hodges we believe we have found the best location possible,” stated Johnny Morris Founder of Bass Pro Shops. “We are very excited to bring Bass Pro Shops to Little Rock and committed to give our long time customers an unforgettable shopping experience at our newest generation store which will be located next to a beautiful 5-acre lake.”

“The area’s long history of great fishing and hunting traditions along with this highly visible and accessible location make it the perfect place to allow us to better serve our many customers and all the outdoor enthusiasts that visit and live in this beautiful part of the country,” Morris continued Bass Pro Shops’ unique, award-winning, mega-sized outdoor stores are known for combining retail with entertainment, conservation and outdoor education.

This is a win all around for Arkansas. Jobs, tax revenues, and a good store. No matter where it is in Arkansas as long as it is here. So do not complain and try not to screw this up people.

I do think they could have found a little beter location, but as far as quality fishing supplies, I don't think it comes much better than G-Loomis rods, Pflueger reels, Lucky Strike lures, and $40.00 flourcarbon line, they also carry a great line of less expensive gear for the fishermen with a tighter budget. When I am down here in Grayton Beach, the Destin store is over the top in service so I am looking forward to having one up there when I am in Arkansas, most eveyone elst will too. Glad Little Rock could get the tax benefits and not Moron Hayes in NLR.

Went to Bass Pro once. Nice to visit but everything is too expensive. Most of the stuff is over priced cheap crap. Jobs? yea, more under paid retail jobs from a business that sends the projects out of state and gets tax breaks so where the benefits? After the mad rush the place will turn into another abandoned building.

Bass Pro, you have been talking for years about a store in Central Arkansas, we will see. If you are smart, I think you will change the location. The Security will cost you millions. Little Rock is 6th in the Nation for crime, the local news reported the new FBI report today. S/W L.R is the highest in the City for crime, you may consider West LR.

The intersection of I-30 and I-430? I guess the developers thought there wasn't already enough congestion in that area.
