Beebe says he'll vote against medical marijuana proposal

Governor Mike Beebe told reporters Tuesday he would not support a proposed initiated act to legalize medical marijuana in Arkansas if it makes the November ballot.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Mike Beebe told reporters Tuesday he would not support a proposed initiated act to legalize medical marijuana in Arkansas if it makes the November ballot.

The Arkansas Medical Marijuana Act requires valid signatures from 62,507 registered voters.

Beebe told reporters he does not expect to speak out against the ballot initiative.

"I worry about whether or not it would be abused," Beebe says.

The Secretary of State's office is currently reviewing the signatures that were handed in on July 5th. It expects to complete the process within 30 days of the July 6th signature deadline.
