Beebe signs prison, sentencing overhaul bill

Gov. Mike Beebe has signed into law an overhaul of Arkansas' sentencing and probation laws aimed at curbing the state's prison costs.

Our prisons should only be used for the criminally violent, not non-violent offenders. A lot of our policies we have make no sense, they are well intended but fail to work. It's a long overdue and needs to be re-evaluated.

yeah, i just don't get it either! it's freakin' prison! you gave up your rights to 'anything' when you broke the law!!!

Here's my $0.02 on that! Take away everything, Internet, Cable television, 3 meals a day, feed them slop like you would a hog (a more familiar term "PIG")! This adds up the cost of being an inmate, why should they have MORE rights then the average Joe? No wonder the increase, any more, it pays to be a criminal in prison.
