LITTLE ROCK, AR - Govenor Mike Beebe says he supports the decision by the University of Arkansas to fire Bobby Petrino.
The governor delivering the remarks on Wednesday after talking about his recent 12-day trade trip to China.
Beebe called the situation sad but that the university wasn't left with much choice given the facts.
"What coach Petrino did will leave a mark on the university," Beebe says. "But what Jeff Long did will leave a bigger and more lasting mark on the university."
Petrino's one-time girlfriend Jessica Dorrell resigned from the U of A staff Tuesday, receiving $14,000 as part of a settlement agreement.
