Benton PD Reminding Drivers to Put Down Cellphones in School Zones

Leaders have used drug seizure money to purchase "No Cell Phone" signs near its schools.
BENTON, AR -- Police are reminding drivers hang up the phone when driving in school zones.

Leaders have used drug seizure money to purchase "No Cell Phone" signs near its schools.

Police say let the signs be a warning.

"They've got a grace period," says Sgt. Lisa Stuart. "This week we are educating and letting them know, there is a new law and this is what you can and can't do in the school zones, and then we are going to start issuing citations." 

Officers say distracted driving is an issue near school campuses.
