Benton Police Arrest Wounded Man Upon Release from Hospital

This is the second arrest in the case of a man who allegedly schemed to have himself shot.

BENTON, AR- Detectives with the Benton Police Department have made a second arrest in connection to a shooting incident that took place in late April on Millbrook Cove.

29-year-old Timothy Gauldin of Benton was taken into custody Friday after being released from the hospital.

Evidence found during the investigation indicates that the alleged victim in the case, Timothy Gauldin, shot himself with the help of a friend,35-year-old Jason Gaunt.

In an earlier report, neighbors said police told them it was a set-up to draw sympathy from a former romance of Gauldin's.

Gauldin is charged with Possession of a Firearm by Certain Person-Felon and Filing a False Police Report, a Felony.

Gaunt was previously charged in the case for Furnishing a Firearm to a Convicted Felon, Possession of Marijuana, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

The investigation is continuing.
